TITLE: Paraprofessional
REPORTSDIRECTLY TO: Head of Academics
EVALUATION: Performance on the job will be evaluated by the Head of Academics based on this job description.
JOB SUMMARY: The Paraprofessional is primarily taskedwith carrying out UCA’s mission in the areas of student and teacher support. They will work closely with an assigned teacher and support them in their duties. Typical tasks include working with students in groups and individually during lessons, tracking behaviors that limit student success, implementing self-help and behavior management strategies, and writing progress reports. The thriving paraprofessional is caring, compassionate, and committed to each student’s success.

8. Understand, support, and fulfill the mission of Unity Christian Academy and all of its policies and procedures.
9. Demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing communication skills.
10.Be a self-starter and goal driven.
11.Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability.
12.Exhibit knowledge and experience in pedagogical best practices.
13. Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
In the following areas, the Paraprofessional will:
INSTRUCTOR SUPPORT
1. Co-teach lesson components as determined by the teacher, leading small-group or individual instruction and discussion, and reviewing classworkmaterial.
2. Organize classroom and teachingmaterials; verify and track student attendance.
3. Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, and photocopying; grade tests and homework, recording the results.
STUDENT SUPPORT
4. Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, organizational, and emotional needs; help with redirection and engagement needs when necessary.
5. Establish andmaintain collaborative working relationships with students, parents, and staff to enhance the instructional environment; participate in parent-teacher and faculty meetings and events.
6. Monitor student accommodation implementation in the classroom.
7. Serve as a positive, nurturing guide for students.
8. Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community, following and upholding school rules and standards.
9. Safely supervise students in both instructional and assessment activities in and out of the classroom.
10. Identify sensitive student information andmaintain confidentiality.
ACADEMIC SUPPORT
11.Review student records to identify previous or potential barriers to learning.
12.Collaborate with the School SocialWorker and teachers to create plans for students’ academic success.
13.Participate in planning sessions with the learning team, communicating with parents and school officials as needed.
PROFESSIONALDEVELOPMENT
14.Participate in professional development activities aimed at current trends and best practices for the provision of comprehensive paraprofessional services.
OTHER
15.Other duties as assigned and appropriate.

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
